House prices fell by 0.7 per cent month-on-month in June, according to the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG).

There are now 71 per cent fewer mortgages on the market than a year ago, as the credit crunch's full force is revealed.

Nationalised bank Northern Rock today announced a loss of £585.4 million for the first half of 2008.
